5/21 Blog #8: The Last Painting
Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog. Since the project is almost over, this week will be my last painting. If you saw last week's post, then yes, I will end the project with "Flower Boy" by Tyler, the Creator. Revisit last week's blog post to see where I got to.
If you read last week's post, you would know that I planned on painting two albums over last week, this week, and next week. I may or may not have forgotten about the actual TED Talk, so I had to scrap that plan. I chose only to finish "Flower Boy". Just for reference, here is the album and my progress so far:
Honestly, I was a little underwhelmed with my final product. I was expecting more out of myself, but it is what it is. I think my biggest problem was just how much I enlarged Tyler. I mean, the more Tyler there is the better usually, but not really in this case. Aside from that, I think it turned out pretty decent. The clouds look pretty good (for my first time doing clouds), the bees look good, too, and the hills look kind of realistic (I can't really tell if they create the illusion or not). This album was very difficult, so I'm not too upset about there being a few mistakes here and there. This one was just so time-consuming (like Graduation) because of the amount of recoating I had to do.
Thank you all for reading my blog, and I'm so happy you stuck with me through this journey. Whenever it may be, I'll catch you later!
Despite the hardships of the album, I enjoyed painting it. Even though I may not be too happy about the end product, it was a great way to end the project. It takes all of the skills I learned from my previous albums and puts them into one. I had to blend effectively like in "H.E.R.". I had to draw a realistic person like in "Fine Line" and "1989". Finally, I had to be able to paint small details well like in"Graduation". I felt a great sense of satisfaction using all of the skills I learned over the past couple of months in one painting.
I had a great time painting and becoming slightly more artistic-minded. I'm thankful for this project because it provided me with this opportunity to learn how to paint. I never would have thought I would enjoy art or become decent at it, but here we are. I plan to continue painting throughout the summer because it's a good escape and stress reliever. I'm sad to see this project come to an end, but I'm incredibly happy with what I discovered in painting and about myself.
Thank you all for reading my blog, and I'm so happy you stuck with me through this journey. Whenever it may be, I'll catch you later!
